Offered by our team of Naturopathic Doctors, Tracy Gilbert, Carine J. Lafrance, & Sylvia Marasco
Naturopathic medicine is a system of health care that uses natural therapies to treat, prevent, and diagnose disease. The primary goal of naturopathic medicine is to address the causes of illness rather than simply treating or suppressing the symptoms. A naturopathic doctor (ND) assesses the whole person - taking into consideration physical, mental, and emotional aspects of an individual when developing a customized treatment plan.
Naturopathic medicine is beneficial for individuals of all ages, for acute and chronic health conditions, and for those who simply wish to maintain good health and prevent disease. With a focus on addressing the underlying cause of illness and treating the whole person, naturopathic medicine can help to reverse disease and/or significantly improve overall quality of life. Through naturopathic health care, individuals commonly experience improvements in energy, sleep, digestion, stress, and overall sense of wellbeing.
Some of the conditions that can benefit from naturopathic health care include:
Tracy Gilbert, HBA, MA, ND Tracy graduated as a Naturopathic Doctor in 2002 from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. Upon completion of her studies, she returned to her hometown of Sudbury, Ontario and began the work of creating a family naturopathic practice. What began as Nature's Apothecary, naturopathic medical clinic and health food store, has evolved into Ezentials, natural health centre and spa.
At Ezentials, Tracy offers naturopathic family health care and has a particular interest in the treatment of infertility. She is also actively involved in all areas of the business to ensure continued growth and expansion. For her, this is a work of passion! Her goal is to create a destination health centre and spa where clients can come to restore health using natural, safe and effective treatment options.
Tracy's qualifications include:
Carine J. Lafrance, BSc, ND Carine was born and raised in Hearst, a charming little northern Ontario town. She completed a science degree at Laurentian University/Université Laurentienne in Sudbury in 2005, and then continued her education at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto. Upon completion of her studies in 2009, Carine decided to return to Sudbury to join Ezentials. Carine is looking forward to starting her bilingual practice in northern Ontario.
At Ezentials, Carine offers naturopathic family health care and has a particular interest in pediatric health, women's health and weight management.
Carine’s qualifications include:
Sylvia Marasco, HBA, ND Sylvia's passion for people, health and individual experiences originated by facing family health challenges at a young age. These experiences led to the pursuit of optimal health through diet and nutrition and it is here that she recognized a need for more knowledge for herself and to share with others.
Her interest in people on a holistic level expressed itself formally with a completion of two degrees; one in Modern Languages and the other in Religious Studies. These studies helped give her a glimpse of how people relate to themselves and their environment. This was simultaneously complimented by her participation in the hairstyling profession which helped her to hear people's life stories and to relate to them on their level. These interests, experiences and studies, along with a personal desire to further acquire and share methods of empowerment to individuals led to her pursuit in Naturopathic Medicine.
At Ezentials, Sylvia's approach is to familiarize herself with the entire person and to assist with each individual's health journey. She is pleased to be back and practicing in her hometown.
Sylvia's qualifications include:
